2017 has been a very…very busy year!

I will start with a very current event that is happening tomorrow evening. It is our 2nd annual Comedy Cafe event with John Crist, a very funny comedian. Check out some of his video clips on You tube. We also are having a up and coming country singer, Lexi Wyman sing at the beginning of the event and also after the event during our dessert reception. You can get tickets at http://www.itickets.com

We just completed our fall coat giveaway October 20th. We gave away around 160 coats. We had 18 youth from Bismarck come to help with this event. It was a good experience overall and lots of families that needed coats for this winter are now ready. It was 82 degrees last Friday. Today with windchill it’s around 18…very..very chilly!

We had our first Christmas in July event on July 25th in the park. We had a picnic supper, companies who decorated Christmas trees and had games for kids. Santa Claus was there to take pictures of kids and Kathie and I sang Chrismas carols. We had boxes for churches and people to bring gifts for kids for our upcoming Christmas event. We received 165 gifts. We have enough to cover this event which will be December second, at the Watford City civic center.

November 16th we will be having our Thanksgiving Gathering Place event with turkey and all the trimmings. We invite the folks who have been through our thrift center and been impacted by our ministry. We really look forward to this night of sharing in a meal and fellowship.

Last, but not least, we are in the process of buying the building that we have been renting for the past year. We have the down payment and we are working with a local bank to get this done. We may have an issue with needing flood insurance which is very costly. Please pray with us that it will be something we can afford to pay.

I’m attaching several pictures for you to see of recent events…enjoy!

My how Time has flown!

I’ll try to give a update on the busy, busy last several months. The first two pictures are of our Gathering Place Thanksgiving meal. We served 65 people… the full meal deal!

The second set is from our Christmas Celebration on December 4th. We had 189 people attend, of which 89 were kids. We read the Christmas story, sang carols, had a fun story by our friend Dave Lysaker and his puppet, Andy. We then allowed the kids to shop in our “Toy Mall” and each child was allowed to pick out their own new unwrapped present. Lots of smiles and laughs.

The Third set is of our fall coat giveaway in late October, we gave away over 150 coats in a few hour period. Glad we had the coats to give. The last several weeks as you can imagine have been very busy with the cold weather and snow that we are experiencing in the north country.

I couldn’t get the computer to put them in the proper order, but I’m sure you’ll figure it out!

Enjoy the pictures!

I apoligize for being so lax with the website. There just aren’t enough hours in the day to do all the things that need to be done! New Year’s resolution….do better in 2017!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Bakken Oil Rush Ministry.

We will be sorting Monday Thru Wednesday, July 11th thru the 13th from 10 am to 8 pm.

Please come when you can and leave when you must. We have lots of bags and boxes to sort. Initially, we will sort summer from winter and then attack each season after that.
We will have good instructions and we always manage to have fun in the process!
We will have cold drinks and will have food for those who work over meal-times.
Location: we are at our new building which is located north of the airport. Go east from Carquest until you get to the stoplights. Take a left. We are the third building on the right (green in a chain-linked fence).
If you can send us a quick note when you may be able to help so we can plan for food and setup for sorting.

Today’s article in the McKenzie County Farmer tells our story!

Bakken Oil Rush Ministry is approaching a financial deadline. The attached newspaper article tells our story in a nutshell. It’s easier to attach than re-write it out.

Please pass it on to family and friends that would be interested in what we do here in the Bakken and may be willing to help support this ministry.

Thanks!

Re-cap of our December Christmas Celebration event!

I was getting ready to do a post for this Saturday the 30th and saw that I had not done a re-cap of our Christmas Celebration here. So..so…sorry! If you haven’t seen the recap on our Fb page here it is…late…but still a great event with wonderful memories!

Enjoy the pictures from our December 19th, Saturday night Christmas Celebration.
We had a wonderful time and so did the 160 to 170 that attended the event. We had 82 kids who all received a new unwrapped present of their choosing…and then received a secondary present as well. Much joy in the house!
Thanks to the 34 volunteers who worked hard to make this a success, from setup, to kitchen help, to servers, to present delivery help, to cleanup folks. We absolutely could not have done this without you.
We are humbled and amazed by the support and tireless effort of the volunteers and also local businesses who donated money for gifts and doorprizes. Also, we must thank Legacy UMC church in Bismark for collecting a good number of gifts to help support this event.
We believe lives have been touched and encouraged because of this evening. To God be the glory!!

Special Christmas Event, December 19th, 6 PM, Civic Center

Andy in 4820141220_175119

This is a special invitation to our Christmas celebration, December 19th at 6 pm. It will be held at the Civic Center this year.

We will read the Christmas story, sing Christmas carols, have a special Christmas story by Andy, (pictured) a real “dummy” traveling to North Dakota from Minnesota.

We will then have a special Christmas meal followed by gifts for all the kids present from our special “toy mall.” Each child will be able to pick out their own new present from the mall.

It will be a special evening!

If you plan on attending please send us a quick note with the number attending, gender and ages of the kids.

We want to make sure we have enough food and presents for all of the kids.

We’re excited to host this event and hope you’ll attend!
