Last week in our Spanish/English class, I sat next to a lady who has faithfully been coming to our classes since we began in the spring of 2023. She works at Wolf Pup and has young children and sees our classes as a great way to practice her English and connect with other moms in Watford City. We had a lot of fun visiting as she helped me with my Spanish pronunciation and I helped her with English. We laughed and had fun with others in the class as we tried to figure out how to make our “u’s” sound like “uh” like in “wake up”, which is a really tough sound for Spanish speakers to articulate. I find it remarkable how quickly we pick up new skills when we are having fun!
I speak with at least one person every day who would love to learn either Spanish or English. Our classes are very low-key and conversational. We have partnered with an instructor in Nicaragua who has catered a curriculum specifically for us. We show a video from the instructor each week followed by interactive exercises. Sometimes we play a game together and there are always snacks! Best of all, the classes are FREE and you can come anytime to check them out. We meet at the Rough Rider Center every Tuesday evening at 6pm. See the graphic below for more information.
