The picture on the right is of Pastor Bob, Lyle andPastor Barb, three of our helpers for the night.
We were able to feed 125 people last Friday night. I can’t believe it’s almost a week behind us now. I was so busy I didn’t take many pictures, but these two tell the story. Everyone, including the workers were having fun. We had at least 12 people who volunteered to help. We could not have done it without their help. Not pictured is a gal who worked tirelessly along side of Kathie to put the meal together and help with all the setup, prep work and cooking. Kathy Tretter, You are a blessing that we appreciate so much!!
We had a good number of folks come who have been through our Mobile Thrift Center as well as single guys, and men who are here without their families. A free meal they didn’t have to cook was a blessing to them…and that’s the idea!
Additionally, we had a number of folk who asked if they could help pay for the meal and when we added up the donations at the end of the night…it was just enough to cover our cost. Praise God for His faithfulness!
And yes….we’ll do it again! Just getting people together that spend so much time alone to be with other folks and enjoy a good meal was very meaningful to them and to us as well.
Keep us in your prayers as we seek to find more ways to help those in need and those who are away from their families and experiencing loneliness.
Don’t forget, this Friday night, 5 to 8:30 is our FREE spaghetti feed at the First Presbyterian Church 3 1/2 blocks East of Carquest on 4th Ave.
Come, enjoy a good meal and some good conversation. Encourage spring to show up!…and tell your friends to come as well.
Last Thursday and Friday the Mobile Free Thrift Center was set up at the First Presbyterian church in Watford City. We finally had nice enough weather to open up the ramp back door on the trailer so people could see in as they drove by.
Pictured are from left to right; Mary Beth, Kathie and Kathy, enjoying the sun, visiting and helping people. Besides the Thrift trailer, we had 13 tables set up inside the church fellowship hall filled with items we didn’t have room for in the trailer.
We were quite busy and here is a sampling of “just some” of the items given away those two days. Jeans- 65 pair, Coats-14, Hooded sweatshirts-23 Shirts-36, Gloves 11 pair. Caps-7, 13 place settings of dishes plus cups and mugs. We also gave away silverware, frying pans, coffee makers, toasters, blankets, towels, shoes, boots, toothbrushes…and the list goes on.
We were so glad to be able to help so many people. They were grateful that we cared and could help them get established in a new community.
Thank you to all who have contributed items for us to help people with. We couldn’t do it without you!
The Mobile free Thrift Center will be open tomorrow,(Tuesday) from 2 to 4 pm at the First Lutheran Church.
We have a good selection of coats, hooded sweatshirts and other warm clothes to help you if you are in need. We also have some kitchen items, plates, silverware, cups, a few pots and pans and several new heaters.
We would love to help! Pass the word to friends that could use our help.
Spring really is coming! Join us if you can for a great meal and fellowship.
Pass the word along!
Please take a moment to review our needs tab at the top of our webpage. We have updated it with the items we believe we will be needing with spring approaching.
Already we are seeing a increase in the number of people moving to Watford City as the weather moderates. Thanks for what you can do to help.
We have been so blessed by the support of the churches, businesses and individuals in this area as well as from a distance. We certainly could not have helped as many people as we have without your help and continued support. Thank You!!
It’s time to move out remaining winter gear and prepare for spring.
We will be open Thursday March 15th from 11 am to 7 pm and Friday March 16th from 11 am to 5 pm. We will be set up at the First Presbyterian Church both days. It is 3 1/2 blocks east of Carquest on 4th Ave.
We will have our mobile free thrift center, plus we will have the fellowship hall tables filled with coats, vests, warm shirts, jeans, clothing for men, women and children.
If you have need of any of these items or know someone who does, come and inform your friends. All items are free. We do accept donations if you so desire.
